How to choose a practioner?

Experience
The first rule is to choose a first rate plastic surgeon of good experience in this field. During the consultation, ask the surgeon to show you pictures of patients, he has himself operated on, before and after the surgery.
The surgeon should have photos of his patients if he is really specialized in this very special discipline.

Team
The most important factor is his team of medical assistants for strip dissection.
Example: To perform a session of 5000 strands of hair and more, the surgeon must be surrounded by a team of at least 8 to 9 assistants to dissect the strip into grafts using the microscope. Refuse the procedure if only the naked eye is used. A successful transplant depends on more than 80% of the competence and experience of the medical assistants.

Hygiene
Make sure the clinic where your surgeon will operate meets the European criteria and that aseptic conditions are strictly observed. Today, good practitioners use single use surgical instruments, that is to say, disposable, and therefore without any risk. It is a bit more expensive but much safer to avoid problems of infections and complications.

In short, your practitioner should:
  • Be a plastic surgeon specialized in hair transplant.
  • Have a medical team of at least 8 to 9 well experienced assistants in dissecting the strip only by using the microscope in order not to damage follicles.
  • Be able to offer operations of about 5000 strands of hair in a single session of 4 to 5 hours at most.
  • Operate using single use instruments in a clinic or a doctor's office conformable to the European standards.
