Hair transplant in Morocco

PDF Print E-mail

The beginning

Until 2004, hair transplant in Morocco was very confidential! Only a few surgeons might sometimes make the sessions by offering a maximum of 200 to 400 grafts ( also called micro grafts) with the assistance of one technician. Obviously the results were insignificant and therefore disappointing.

Moroccan specialists training

One should know that in order to protect physicians and surgeons of Morocco, the College of Physicians almost always refuses French doctors to settle in Morocco. In 2004, the specialist Gil Mennetrey fell in love with Morocco and decided to open a center of capillary expertise in Marrakech and then came to work 15 days a month in the red city. The French specialist of international reputation was President of the 3rd World Congress against baldness research which took place at the Congress Palas in Paris. He has successfully opened several clinics for hair transplant in Paris, Barcelona and in Mauritius (Indian Ocean), the 1st world clinic to practice medical tourism for hair transplant. He is also the designer of several anti- hair losses known for their efficiency and distributed in pharmacies in France, and in many countries including Morocco.

Gil Mennetrey selected 5 or 6 Moroccan surgeons among the most famous surgeons in the kingdom and he welcomed them in France and Spain in order to provide them with a training in the latest procedures of follicular micrografting. Then ten well qualified nurses and medical assistants were recruited and trained by his own assistants of clinics in Paris and Barcelona. After two years of diligent training, quality of hair transplant carried out in Morocco is now equal to the one accomplished in the best clinics in Europe.

Today

The team of medical assistants settled in Marrakech is composed of 10 technicians, each one of whom is equipped with a stereoscopic binocular microscope. They regularly travel to Casablanca and Rabat in order to help the skillful Moroccan surgeons in mega sessions ranging about 6500 strands hair accomplished in only 4 or 5 hours.

Over the past 3 years, hundreds of patients from Europe and even from all over the world, chose Morocco for their hair transplant surgeries. Moroccans make up 60% of patients and more and more Algerians, Libyans, Tunisians and Arabs of Emirates also choose Morocco to find their lost hair. Women represent nearly 30% of transplant patients in Morocco. Obviously the rates charged in Morocco are 30 to 40% cheaper than the ones in Europe for the same number of implanted hair, which also explains the choice of Morocco as the destination for hair transplant.
